Renowned for the excellent and unique structure of his compositions, the ultra talented Moses Taiwa Molelekwa was approached by Hugh Masakela at the age of eighteen. His reputation as a composer and keyboardist brought him work with South African greats such as Miriam Makeba, Jonas Gwangwa and Thembi Mtshali. Molelekwa was also a founding member of two bands - Brotherhood and Umbongo – who each won the Best Jazz Group award in the 1991/92 Gilbeys Music of Africa Competition.

In 1996 Molelekwa won two FNB SA Music Awards for the Best Traditional Jazz Performance as well as Best Contemporary Jazz Performance. These awards highlighted his skill in blending the traditional styles of South African jazz with contemporary sounds and influences. He was amongst the leaders of a new generation of masterful musicians emerging to reveal the vibrant spirit of South Africa. Moses was inarguably one of the most exciting artists to emerge from this continent and embody a newfound freedom.
